Most privacy policies are written by lawyers for lawyers. This one is written for you.
Here is the short version: Fair Marrow collects very little data. We use privacy-first analytics that don’t track you personally. We don’t run ads, we don’t run a Facebook pixel, we don’t use Google Analytics, and we don’t sell your information to anyone. If you subscribe to our newsletter, we store your email address to send you the newsletter. That’s mostly it.

What We Collect — and What We Don’t
What We Do Collect
Email address (newsletter subscribers only)
If you subscribe to Marrow Letters, our newsletter, we collect your email address to send you the newsletter. That’s the only reason we have it. We use Beehiiv as our newsletter platform. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of any email.
Anonymous site analytics
We use Plausible Analytics to understand how people use this site — which pages are popular, where traffic comes from, how long people stay. Plausible is a privacy-first analytics platform. It does not use cookies. It does not store your IP address. It does not track you across sites or sessions. It does not build a profile on you. The data we see is aggregate and anonymous. Contact form and email inquiries
If you email us, we have your email address and whatever you wrote. We use it to respond to you. We do not add unsolicited email inquiries to any mailing list.
What We Do Not Collect
- No Facebook Pixel or Meta tracking of any kind
- No Google Analytics
- No advertising network tags
- No third-party behavioral tracking scripts
- No fingerprinting or cross-site tracking
- No location data
- No purchase history from affiliate click-throughs (affiliate platforms track conversions on their end; we receive aggregate commission reports, not individual user data)
Cookies
We use minimal cookies. Specifically:
- WordPress session cookies — standard functional cookies that keep you logged in if you have an account (most readers do not). These are essential to the site’s operation and cannot be disabled without breaking basic site functionality.
- No analytics cookies — Plausible doesn’t use cookies.
- No advertising cookies — we don’t run ads.
You can manage or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking session cookies will not affect your ability to read content on this site.
Third-Party Services
Here are the third-party services we use and what they do:
Beehiiv — newsletter platform. Stores subscriber email addresses and handles delivery. Beehiiv has its own privacy policy at beehiiv.com/privacy. When you subscribe to Marrow Letters, your email address is processed by Beehiiv in accordance with their terms. You can unsubscribe at any time.
Plausible Analytics — privacy-first analytics. No cookies, no personal data. Hosted in the EU. Details at plausible.io/privacy.
Cloudflare — DNS and content delivery. Cloudflare sits in front of our site and helps it load quickly and securely. Cloudflare’s privacy practices are described at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
SiteGround — web hosting. Our site files and database are hosted on SiteGround servers. SiteGround’s privacy policy is at siteground.com/privacy.
We do not use any other third-party services that process personal data.
How Long We Keep Your Data
Newsletter subscribers — we retain your email address for as long as you remain subscribed. When you unsubscribe, Beehiiv processes the removal. You can also request manual deletion by emailing privacy@fairmarrow.com.
Email inquiries — retained for as long as is reasonably necessary to address the inquiry, typically no more than 12 months.
Analytics data — anonymous and aggregate, retained indefinitely for trend analysis.
Your Rights
Under GDPR (EU/EEA Residents)
If you are located in the European Union or EEA, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation:
- Right of access (Article 15) — you can ask us what personal data we hold about you
- Right to rectification (Article 16) — you can ask us to correct inaccurate data
- Right to erasure (Article 17) — you can ask us to delete your personal data
- Right to restriction (Article 18) — you can ask us to limit how we process your data
- Right to data portability (Article 20) — you can ask for your data in a portable format
- Right to object (Article 21) — you can object to our processing of your data
The legal basis for processing newsletter subscriber email addresses is consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw that consent at any time by unsubscribing.
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@fairmarrow.com. We will respond within 30 days.
Under CCPA/CPRA (California Residents)
If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.100 et seq.) and the California Privacy Rights Act:
- Right to know — you can request disclosure of personal information we have collected about you (§ 1798.110)
- Right to delete — you can request deletion of personal information we have collected (§ 1798.105)
- Right to opt-out of sale — we do not sell personal information. There is nothing to opt out of.
- Right to non-discrimination — we will not treat you differently for exercising your privacy rights

Children’s Privacy
Fair Marrow is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, contact us immediately at privacy@fairmarrow.com and we will delete it. This policy is consistent with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), 15 U.S.C. § 6501 et seq.
Data Security
We take reasonable technical measures to protect data stored on our systems, including SSL/TLS encryption in transit and access controls on our hosting environment. No security measure is perfect. If we become aware of a data breach that affects your personal data, we will notify affected individuals as required by applicable law.
Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, if the changes significantly affect newsletter subscribers, we will notify subscribers directly.
