Affiliate Disclosure

Last updated: May 2026

Fair Marrow is a reader-supported publication. Some links on this site are affiliate links, which means we may earn a small commission if you click through and make a purchase — at no extra cost to you. This page explains exactly how that works and what it means for our editorial independence.

What an Affiliate Link Is

An affiliate link is a trackable URL. When you click a link on Fair Marrow and buy something, the retailer or brand knows you came from us and pays us a percentage of the sale. The price you pay is identical to what you would have paid if you went directly to the site.

We are members of the following affiliate programs:

  • Amazon Associates
  • ShareASale
  • Impact (Radius)
  • Rakuten Advertising
  • Awin
  • Direct affiliate programs with individual brands

Not every product we link to is an affiliate link. If a product is only available somewhere we don’t have an affiliate relationship, we’ll link to it anyway — because your ability to find what you’re looking for matters more than our commission rate.

What We Earn

Commissions vary by program and product category, but typically range from 3% to 15% of the sale. We do not receive flat fees, guaranteed minimums, or payments tied to how many times a brand appears on the site.

What Affiliate Relationships Do Not Change

This is the part that matters: affiliate relationships do not affect our scores, our recommendations, or our editorial coverage.

A brand with a 3/10 on the Fair Marrow Standard can have affiliate links in its review. We might review it so readers know what they’re buying, even if what they’re buying isn’t great. A brand with a 9/10 might not have affiliate links at all if they don’t participate in any networks we’re part of.

Our scoring process is described in full at Editorial Standards and The Fair Marrow Standard. Neither document has an exception for brands that generate more revenue for us. There is no back-channel for brands to improve their scores by becoming an affiliate partner.

Gifted Products

Brands occasionally send us products to review. When that happens, we disclose it — in the article, before the review content, clearly. A gifted product does not buy a positive review. It does not guarantee coverage at all.

If we wouldn’t have reviewed it on our own, we’re not required to review it just because it showed up in the mail.

Sponsored Content

We do not currently publish sponsored content, brand partnerships, or paid placements.

If that ever changes — which is not planned — any sponsored content will be labeled clearly and unambiguously at the top of the piece as sponsored. It will not look like editorial content. It will not use our scoring framework to evaluate the brand paying for it.

Your Rights as a Reader

You are never obligated to use our affiliate links. If you want to buy something we reviewed:

  • You can go directly to the brand’s website and buy there
  • You can search the product on any retailer you prefer
  • You can ignore our link entirely

Using our link supports the site. Not using it does not affect anything about your experience here or the content we produce.

FTC Compliance

This disclosure is made in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s guidelines on endorsements and testimonials, 16 CFR Part 255. We are required to tell you when we have a financial relationship with something we recommend, and we believe you deserve to know regardless of whether the FTC required it.

If you have questions about our affiliate relationships or want to flag something that doesn’t look right, email us at hello@fairmarrow.com.
