A decade inside CPG and wellness marketing taught me how “clean” claims get made. Fair Marrow is the site I built to evaluate them honestly — the one I wish had existed when I was 25 and trying to figure out which “clean” brands were actually lying.

Biography

Erin Siemek is the founder of Forge Digital Marketing, a fully remote digital marketing agency specializing in wellness, skincare, supplement, nutrition, and CPG brands. Over 10+ years, Erin Siemek has worked with consumer brands on product launches, ingredient positioning, regulatory copy review, and performance marketing — including Klaviyo email programs, Shopify storefronts, Meta and Google Ads campaigns, and AI-driven marketing automation.

That client-side experience is the foundation of Fair Marrow’s editorial identity.

Working inside the industry means seeing the gap between how “clean” is marketed and what “clean” requires formulaically. It means reviewing ingredient briefs, watching certifications get applied to claims they were not designed to support, and seeing reformulations happen quietly without customer notification. It also means knowing which suppliers, certifying bodies, and lab partners serious brands actually use — and which ones are decorative.

Erin Siemek started Fair Marrow because the available nontoxic review content was not built for people who read labels the way industry insiders do. The site is written for that reader — technically literate, skeptical of marketing claims, not interested in fear-based framing, and not aligned with any particular lifestyle demographic.

Areas of active editorial coverage: ancestral and organ-based supplements, men’s natural grooming, nontoxic personal care formulation, and practical reduction of synthetic chemical exposure in household and personal care products.

Why Erin Siemek Is Qualified to Review Nontoxic Products

Experience Inside the Industry

Marketing wellness and CPG brands is not the same as reviewing them — but it provides a set of tools that most reviewers do not have:

  • Formulation fluency. Working on ingredient positioning copy requires reading INCI lists, understanding functional ingredient categories, and knowing what formulation constraints look like from a brand’s perspective.
  • Certification literacy. Managing client certification programs (USDA Organic, NSF, GOTS, OEKO-TEX) means understanding what each certification actually audits and what it does not.
  • Greenwashing pattern recognition. After 10+ years writing and reviewing marketing copy for clean-product brands, the rhetorical patterns of greenwashing are recognizable and identifiable — even when they are subtle.
  • Supply chain context. CPG clients regularly discuss ingredient sourcing, supplier vetting, and raw material tradeoffs. That background informs how formulation claims are evaluated.

Personal Practice

Reviews and methodology on Fair Marrow reflect genuine personal practice, not performed wellness identity:

  • Daily label-reading across supplement, personal care, and household product categories
  • Active use of EWG Skin Deep, Think Dirty, and INCI Decoder for personal purchasing decisions
  • Real-use testing of men’s natural grooming products over multi-week windows
  • Ancestral nutrition research including beef liver and organ-based supplement evaluation

The Insider-as-Skeptic Position

Most product reviewers approach nontoxic products as consumers. Erin Siemek approaches them as someone who has been on the other side of the product launch — which means the skepticism here is informed by how these claims are constructed, not just how they read.

That is not cynicism. Most brands in this space are genuinely trying to formulate cleanly. But “genuinely trying” and “meeting a verifiable standard” are different things, and Fair Marrow is built to evaluate the difference.

Areas of Expertise

  • Ingredient analysis — INCI list review, EWG/Think Dirty/EU Annex II cross-reference, dose-context interpretation
  • Men’s natural grooming — facial care, body care, deodorant, and shaving categories with male skin physiology context
  • Dietary supplements — organ meats, amino acids, adaptogens, bioavailability factors, third-party testing standards (NSF, Informed Sport, USP)
  • Supplement label literacy — Supplement Facts panel evaluation, proprietary blend scrutiny, serving size math
  • Clean beauty formulation context — surfactant chemistry, preservative systems, emulsifier function, fragrance ingredient complexity
  • Certification evaluation — USDA Organic, GOTS, OEKO-TEX, NSF, EWG Verified, MADE SAFE — what each audits, what it excludes, and what it costs to obtain
  • SEO and GEO for health content — E-E-A-T signals, AI citation optimization, entity building for health and wellness publishers
  • Greenwashing identification — pattern recognition for claim structures that exceed substantiation

Editorial Process

For every product reviewed on Fair Marrow under Erin Siemek’s byline:

  1. Full INCI list acquisition — obtained directly from the brand, the product label, or regulatory databases. Marketing-page ingredient lists are not accepted without verification.
  2. Multi-database ingredient cross-reference — EWG Skin Deep, Think Dirty, EU Cosmetics Regulation Annex II/III, and INCI Decoder. Each flagged ingredient is evaluated for mechanism of concern and evidence quality, not just database score.
  3. Dose and exposure contextualization — a flagged ingredient at 0.01% concentration is evaluated differently than the same ingredient as a primary active. Scores are not accepted at face value.
  4. Real-use testing period — minimum several weeks of personal or panel use before performance assessment is published
  5. Formulation comparison — comparable products in the same category are referenced to assess whether formulation quality is meaningful or marginal relative to alternatives
  6. Transparency check — is the full ingredient list publicly available? Does the brand respond to ingredient questions? Is the formulation stable across production runs?
  7. Rating and disclosure finalization — overall assessment, affiliate link disclosure (where applicable), and sourcing disclosure (purchased independently, gifted, or press sample)

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Erin Siemek’s background in ingredient analysis?

Erin Siemek has spent 10+ years in digital marketing for wellness, skincare, supplement, and CPG brands at Forge Digital Marketing. That work required reading INCI lists, evaluating ingredient positioning claims, managing third-party certification programs, and reviewing formulation copy for regulatory compliance. Combined with active personal use of EWG Skin Deep, Think Dirty, and INCI Decoder, this background forms the practical foundation for ingredient-level product evaluation published on Fair Marrow.

Does Erin Siemek have formal chemistry or nutrition credentials?

Erin Siemek’s qualifications are practitioner-based rather than academic. A decade of hands-on CPG marketing — including ingredient copy review, certification management, and direct collaboration with formulators and nutritionists — provides the working knowledge base for this publication. Where clinical or scientific expertise beyond that scope is needed, Fair Marrow sources qualified contributors including cosmetic chemists and registered dietitians, and those contributors are identified by name and credential.

How does working in marketing affect editorial objectivity?

It improves it. Understanding how “clean” claims are constructed makes it easier to identify when a claim is substantiated versus when it is rhetorical. Erin Siemek has reviewed marketing copy for brands on both sides of the ingredient-quality spectrum and applies that pattern recognition to every review. Affiliate relationships and the methodology for keeping them from influencing editorial are disclosed fully on the Fair Marrow About page.

What product categories does Erin Siemek cover personally?

Men’s natural grooming (facial care, body care, deodorant), dietary supplements (organ meats, amino acids, adaptogens), and household products with ingredient transparency claims. Women’s personal care and unisex household product categories are also covered using the same ingredient screening methodology. All categories are evaluated with gender-neutral language and without demographic lifestyle framing.

Is Erin Siemek affiliated with Forge Digital Marketing?

Yes — Erin Siemek is the founder of Forge Digital Marketing, a digital marketing agency for wellness, skincare, CPG, supplement, and fashion brands. This affiliation is disclosed on every page of Fair Marrow. Forge client brands are not reviewed on this site without explicit, prominent disclosure of the relationship. Any such review would be labeled clearly and the standard editorial methodology applied without modification.
